The left panel shows the propagation across the polar cap of an area of extreme plasma density. The right panel shows that one SuperDARN radar on the dayside (at 0826 UT) and another SuperDARN radar on the nightside (at 0940 UT) detected enhanced backscatter power when the same event passed by. The figure is adopted from Oksavik et al. (2010).
