Each AUL can spawn many branches through working with users and whole new trees which may remain connected through their common roots, the same basic research (like an aspen grove) as suggested in Sections 4.1 and 4.4. These new applications may be identified at any stage through the process and will have their own users, requirements, and metrics and will progress through the AUL framework at their own pace.
