Dear participants to FP7 projects on Security of Space Assets from Space Weather Events
The Editors-in-Chief (EiCs) of the Journal of Space Weather and Space Climate (SWSC, http://www.swsc-journal.org/) are organising a Topical Issue "First results from the EU-FP7 projects on Security of Space Assets from Space Weather Events".
SWSC has already received several manuscripts, but the number of submissions is still small compared to the large number of projects co-funded by the REA. SWSC has therefore decided to extend the deadline to 30 September 2012.
The EiCs of SWSC wish to clarify the following points:
- All EU-FP7 projects which address space weather issues are welcome to submit articles, not only those that participated in session 2 of ESWW8, and not only those which responded to the specific call "Security of Space Assets from Space Weather Events".
- The emphasis should be on results. Copies of technical proposals or parts thereof should not be the main thrust of the articles.
- SWSC is still in its initial period in which publication is free of charge to the authors. Being an open-access journal articles will always be free of charge to the readers.

The type of contributions should fit the style of SWSC, which accepts regular research articles, short communications, invited reviews, technical and observational reports, strategic and educational articles and reports on project accomplishments. All manuscripts are peer reviewed according to the quality standards of international scientific journals. It is therefore required that all manuscripts submitted for publication in SWSC contain enough new insight; present the results against a properly referenced background of existing work; present adequate evidence that supports the conclusions; write clearly, concisely and comprehensively and include all necessary and appropriate figures and tables but not more. Accepted papers are published in electronic form only.
