Plot of the log of flare bolometric fluence vs. the log of the corresponding flare 1–8 Å SXR fluence. The data are taken from Kretzschmar (2011) and Emslie et al. (2012; we use X35 for the 4 November 2003 flare.) The regression line is a geometric mean least squares fit. The X45 event corresponds to the Carrington flare.
