The TSI has been measured from space via an uninterrupted series of overlapping instruments since 1978. Offsets between instruments are due to calibration differences. Note that TSI fluctuations of approximately 0.1% are in phase with activity over the 11-year solar cycle, as indicated by sunspot numbers.
