WIND spacecraft measurements (from top to bottom): B X , B Y , and B Z ; B; T; N; and v. In the last two panels we include the respective profiles predicted by the models listed in Table 1: MAX (in blue), MEDIUM (in green), and MIN (in amber). The model MEDIUM is the closest model to observations. The in situ data are shown with a smoothed time window of 15 min, which coincides with the time resolution of our simulations. In purple shades we mark the duration of the compression region and the duration of the rarefaction zone, according to the WIND ICME list (Nieves-Chinchilla et al., 2016, 2018).
