The two graphs above demonstrate rapid and slow flux changes at the beginning of a peak. Top panel: The July 4, 2012 is shown. This episode has multiple steep peaks, with the steepest happening around day 195. Bottom panel: The June 18, 1983 episode is shown to illustrate a slow rising peak. The episode takes close to 3 days to reach its peak, which occurs at day 173. The GME data used in this figure were combined to form the GOES P2 channel.
