Open and closed regions as determined by the coronal magnetic field model. Blue (red) pixels correspond to open field lines that continue in to the solar wind with a magnetic field pointing toward (away from) the Sun. Gray pixels indicate regions of closed magnetic topology, with lighter gray indicating a positive field at the foot point.
