The figure illustrates the three-dimensional magnetic field of (a) AR AR11166 (left) and (b) 12192 (right). The red-blue colour bar refers to the positive-negative polarity vertical B z magnetic field values measured at the solar surface and computed as function of heights in the solar atmosphere. Particular heights outlining approximately the heights of the line formation of K I, Na D, Ca I, and He I are highlighted.
