The left panel shows the distribution of wind-wave offsets as a function of the ratio of HWM14 modelled wind speed divided by observed wave phase speed (“velocity ratio”), with the wind taken at an altitude of 200 km and wave periods from 10 to 27 min considered. The right panel shows the standard deviation of offsets in each velocity ratio bin of the left panel.
