Temporal evolution of the auroral zones surface area (left) and of their centroid’s latitudes (right). The latter are reported as unsigned values, and the geographical poles are located at a latitude of 90°, for both hemispheres. As noted in Zossi et al. (2020), the evolution of the surface areas is not equatorially symmetric.
